Gold in India is quoted per gram in rupees. A jeweller's final price is the rate for that karat multiplied by the weight, plus a making charge, plus GST. The app shows the published rate so you know the base price before you negotiate — read more on the blog. Note that 24K and 22K are published for every city, while the 18K rate is national only.
Gold rates and news in the app are sourced from NDTV and updated daily. They're a published reference rate — not a live trading feed — so your local jeweller's price may differ.

Switch language anytimeThe app shows today's national gold rate for 24K, 22K and 18K gold per gram in rupees, along with a 1g, 8g, 10g and 100g breakdown. Rates are sourced from NDTV (Gadgets 360 and ndtv.com/gold-rate) and updated daily — they are a published reference rate, not a live trading feed, and your local jeweller's price may differ.
The app covers 30+ Indian cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Pune, Jaipur and Lucknow. Per-city rates are published for 24K and 22K gold; the 18K rate is shown at the national level only. Each city also has a 15-day rate history for 24K and 22K.
GST on gold is the same across India, so tax is not the reason. City rates differ because each market's jewellers and bullion associations publish their own reference rate, and because transport from import hubs, local demand and dealer margins vary. The differences are usually small relative to the national rate.
Yes. Today's rates, city rates, charts, the rate history and the gold calculator are all free to use, with no account or sign-in. The free version is supported by ads, which you can remove with the optional Premium subscription.
Premium is an optional auto-renewable subscription with a 3-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. It removes every ad and unlocks custom price alerts and portfolio tracking. The current price is shown in the app before you subscribe; billing is handled entirely by Apple and you can cancel anytime from your Apple Account settings.
Not yet — India Gold Price is coming soon to the App Store for iPhone and iPad. This page will be updated with a download link once it's live.
No, and we won't pretend otherwise. The app shows a published rate sourced from NDTV that's updated daily, and the charts plot daily closing rates rather than intraday ticks. It's the right tool for knowing today's rate before you visit a jeweller — not for tracking the market minute by minute.
No account, name or email is required to use the app. Your preferences, portfolio and alerts stay on your device. The free version shows ads through Google AdMob, which may use a device identifier to serve and measure ads — see our Privacy Policy for the full details and your choices.
