India Gold Price ("the App", "we", "us") is built to show gold rate information while keeping the data we collect to a minimum. The App does not ask you to create an account or sign in. This page explains, in plain language, what data the App uses, how advertising works, and the choices you have.
The App does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal identifier to use it.
Your preferences — selected city, language (English or हिन्दी), appearance (light/dark/system), whether you've seen the welcome intro, your advertising-consent choice, and whether you subscribe to the ad-free upgrade — are stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage (UserDefaults). The same applies to any portfolio holdings you enter and any price alerts you set: they are yours, they stay on your device, and they are not transmitted to us. Deleting the App removes this local data.
To show gold rate information, the App makes requests to third-party services. These requests do not include your name, account, or any personal identifier — only the data needed to fetch the requested content (such as a karat or a city name):
ndtv.com/gold-rate) — today's gold rates, city rates, rate history and gold news headlines. These providers process requests according to their own privacy practices, which are outside our control. Standard technical information such as your IP address is necessarily visible to any service your device connects to.
The App can send notifications — price alerts, a daily morning and evening rate reminder, and optional breaking gold-news alerts. Notifications are entirely optional and are only sent if you grant notification permission when iOS asks, which you can change anytime in iOS Settings → Notifications. To deliver push notifications, your device registers a push token with Apple's Push Notification service; a push token identifies a device installation, not you personally, and we do not link it to a name or account.
The free version of the App displays ads through Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK). To serve and measure ads, Google and its ad partners may collect and process technical information from your device, which can include:
This information is used to deliver ads, limit repetition, measure ad performance, and — where permitted — show more relevant ads. Google's handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
The App offers an optional auto-renewable subscription ("Premium — Ad-Free"). Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store using Apple's in-app purchase system (StoreKit). Apple handles all payment details — we never receive or store your payment card information. Whether you have an active subscription is verified through your Apple Account, and a simple on/off flag is stored locally on your device so the App knows to hide ads. See the Terms of Use for subscription and billing details.
The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the App is used — for example, which screens are viewed, session and launch counts, and general device/app information. To do this, Firebase may collect app-usage data, diagnostics, and identifiers (including, where you have permitted tracking, the advertising identifier). This helps us measure engagement and improve the App. Google processes this data in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy. We do not use it to build a profile that identifies you by name, and the App still requires no account or sign-in.
Advertising data is collected separately by the Google Mobile Ads SDK as described above (free version only).
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, please contact us so we can address it.
Gold rates and market information shown in the App are for general informational purposes only and do not constitute financial, investment, or trading advice. Rates are sourced from NDTV, are updated daily rather than live, and may differ from the price quoted by your local jeweller. Always confirm the current rate with your jeweller before buying or selling.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date, and reflected inside the App's Settings screen.
